operation for more than a century. In 1997, the Panama Ports Company began the process of transforming the dock to adapt it to the new needs of world trade, i.e. for the transport of containerised cargo.<\/p><p>At the end of the construction works, the port will have 3,321.70 m of berthing frontage and a total storage capacity of 86,982 slots or 521,892 TEU. The port will be able to receive both Panamax and Post Panamax vessels.
