407, in a joint venture with the North American engineering firm Janssen &amp; Spaans. The extension, subject to tolls, will extend Highway 407 eastwards by 24 km, introducing a new north-south spur of about 10 km in length, starting at Brock Road, Pickering and ending in Oshawa to connect with Highway 401.<\/p><p>The design speed is 120 km\/h and the section is 2 or 3 lanes in each direction, depending on location. There are 9 interchanges and 58 structures planned throughout the project.<\/p><p>The scope of the project is to link the future closure of the Toronto Bypass 407E with Highway 401 by means of a 10 km long connecting branch (West Durham Link). The West Durham Link has been designed for a design speed of 120 km\/h. It has a divided carriageway section with two lanes in each direction. There are eight interchanges within the section.<\/p><p>The two most important ones are at the ends of the section where the connections with the 407 and 401 highways are made.
