The planning regulations in force at the beginning of the drafting of the General Urban Development Plan for the municipality are the Municipal Subsidiary Regulations of 1983 and their revision for Urban Land in 1993, as well as a Special Plan for Interior Reform (PERI) for the historic center.

The most important guidelines of the new General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) are to adjust and adapt the planning to the legal conditions established by the Oyambre Natural Park to the municipal reality, to the decrease in livestock activity, to limit development to areas with slopes less than 20%, to avoid the visual impact of constructions, to consolidate and expand urban areas, and to adopt sustainable development practices.
