The seawater desalination plant in Sohar, on the Al Batinah coast, started operations in 2019. This reverse osmosis plant is the second largest in the country. It has the capacity to desalinate 250,000 m3 per day of seawater, supplying about 220,000 people. The desalination plant was designed with one main objective in mind: to optimize the use of water and energy. For this reason, it has a high degree of automation.
