Meso-scale GIS characterisation of the coastal environment, Peru

3.000 km

coastline

The project consists of the characterisation of the coastal environment and its geomorphology for the evaluation of potential areas of large-scale erosion on the Peruvian coasts.

To this end, a data model, a geographic database and viewers integrated in a GIS tool for marine-coastal characterisation and analysis have been designed and implemented. This tool has been used to obtain thematic cartographic series 1:100,000 on the geomorphological and environmental characterisation, coastal uses and infrastructures, and levels of erosion on the coast.

Location Lima, Peru

Date: 2016

Scope of the project: mesoscale characterisation study of coastal marine habitat erosion levels on the coast of Peru.
