The characteristics of the waste water to be treated are described, as well as the design parameters adopted, carrying out a study of the populations, both foreseen and foreseeable in the future, as well as a study of the current industries and its forecast growth. A study of discharges was also carried out, with two sampling campaigns, one in the summer and one in the winter season in high season.

The section Astún-Candanchú, affecting a population of 29,000 residents, has a total surface of river basin of 215 km².
