Buenaventura is a strategic hub for international maritime lines due to its proximity to the Panama Canal and being the closest Colombian Pacific port to the Far East.
The new terminal is equipped to accommodate deep-draft vessels from around the world, with its 14 meters of draft and 514 meters of pier length, expandable to 783 meters, along with a turning basin of 350 meters in diameter. For terminal access, a 2.5-kilometer-long channel was designed, requiring a dredging volume of approximately 3 million cubic meters.
