Nautical and sporting activities linked to tourism are some of the activities that have the greatest impact on the fragility of the coastline of the island of Menorca, and are characterised by their high seasonality. In addition to the planning and management efforts carried out throughout the island, the Insular Coastal Plan has the main objective of guaranteeing the best use of the resources and the integrity of the island's coastline.

The management of activities, uses and practices linked to the coast allows for the control of the possible negative effects of activities that could harm the stability of the environment, and guarantees the public use and enjoyment of the coast.
