The project allowed for the much-anticipated updates of the two stations, providing an improved overall travel experience for passengers.

The construction contract, valued at nearly 20 million pounds, provided vital improvements at the Romford and Ilford stations, including enhanced entrances and step-free access to accommodate the increased number of passengers expected to use the new Elizabeth Line services.
