Basic platform design for the Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastián high-speed railway line, Atxondo-Abadiño section.

53.350.000 €

Budget

1.755 m

length of the Arrazola viaduct

The Atxondo-Abadiño section is 5.66 km long and runs entirely through the province of Vizcaya, parallel to the N-636 road. It is a mixed-traffic line (passenger and freight) with a design speed of 250 km/h.

The orography of the land, which is very uneven in this area, together with the strong conditioning factors in the design of the high-speed lines, made it necessary to design eight viaducts. The Arrazola viaduct, with a length of 1,755 m, stands out among them all. Completing the design of the section are three overpasses and seven transversal drainage works, five of which have been adapted as wildlife crossings.
