Se redacta este proyecto con el fin de acometer la prolongación de la obra de la toma de la desalinizadora de Carboneras (Almería), puesto que la toma existente queda inutilizada cuando la Autoridad Portuaria de Almería procede a la ejecución del futuro muelle de Ribera.

La conducción submarina se plantea en polietileno de alta densidad (PEAD), de DN 2000 y diámetro interior de 1846.2 mm y PN-4.
