Wadi al-Liwa river channelisation and hydrology study project, Oman

The project involves channeling the Liwa River as it passes through a new residential area in the Liwa region of Oman.

The river´s basin is characterized by a desert climate with low annual rainfall but high-intensity precipitation. This, combined with the sparse vegetation, results in very high runoff volumes. The substantial runoff during rain events, along with the flat topography of the study area, leads to significant flooding issues at this location.

Location Liwa river, Sultanate of Oman

Date: 2017

Scope of the project: hydrological study, channelization design, design of cross-channel structures, and protection design against Erosion.
