Este proyecto de licitación comprende el tramo desde la autopista actual US-460 en las proximidades de su enlace 295, al sureste del condado Prince George de Richmond, hasta un nuevo enlace con la autopista US-58, variante de la ciudad de Suffolk, con una longitud aproximada de 88 km, con total control de accesos y calzadas separadas con dos carriles por sentido. El eje de la nueva autopista discurre al sur de la actual US-460.

The project, for Ferrovial and in collaboration with Jansen & Spaans, consists of a four-lane toll road that will run parallel to the existing State Highway 460, between the cities of Petersburg and Suffolk, in southeastern Virginia, and will connect with seven highways. Design work will be carried out during 2013 and construction will begin in 2014, to be completed by the end of 2017.

The new US 460 will improve communications with the Port of Virginia from the interior of the State and increase freight traffic. It will also be an essential engine for economic development in the region.
