Intake and discharge works project for the Taweelah desalination plant, United Arab Emirates

A new desalination plant is planned for the Taweelah complex, located in the Persian Gulf, approximately 50 km northeast of the city of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The intake structure consists of a pair of dams with a stilling basin or channel, which ensures a gentle fall of seawater into the pumping chamber.

The discharge system consists of two HDPE pipelines with an internal diameter of 2500 mm. The length of the pipelines is approximately 2000 m. They will be installed in a trench on the seabed, and buried 2 m below the seabed.
