The Port Authority of Almeria undertakes the development of the western part of the port in order to provide it with a configuration that will allow it to meet the expected future demand.

The action to be carried out consists of the construction of the first section of a 416.10 m long vertical free dock, with variable draughts between 21 and 26 meters, using lightened concrete caissons. The objective is to reduce the agitation in the currently exposed dock, and to eliminate the existing limitations for berthing at the Pechina dock.
