Extension

Proes is developing the bidding project for the extension of the Canadian Highway 407, in a joint venture with the North American engineering firm Janssen & Spaans. The extension, subject to tolls, will extend Highway 407 eastwards by 24 km, introducing a new north-south spur of about 10 km in length, starting at Brock Road, Pickering and ending in Oshawa to connect with Highway 401.

The design speed is 120 km/h and the section is 2 or 3 lanes in each direction, depending on location. There are 9 interchanges and 58 structures planned throughout the project.

The scope of the project is to link the future closure of the Toronto Bypass 407E with Highway 401 by means of a 10 km long connecting branch (West Durham Link). The West Durham Link has been designed for a design speed of 120 km/h. It has a divided carriageway section with two lanes in each direction. There are eight interchanges within the section.

The two most important ones are at the ends of the section where the connections with the 407 and 401 highways are made. The project includes the complete definition of the layout, drainage calculations, definition of the structures, signalling, measurements, etc., taking into account canadian standards.
