The Mazares (or Manzanal) Bridge, on the Esla river reservoir, was built in the 1930s. It is made up of 16 straight concrete spans of 24.0 m. on 56 m. high piers, in the central part a parabolic arch of 47.0 m. span and 25.00 m. of arrow; with a 3.80 m. platform (the same as the one it replaced) and 6.00 m. piers. It is 450 m long and, to take advantage of the topography, it has a wide curve on the left bank.
Proes writes a report about the rehabilitation of the bridge. Subsequently it is discarded, and several alternatives are proposed, as a solution for a new bridge next to the existing one.
